Monday 30th June 2008

Back late last night from our chill out week in the Loire. We did manage quite a few days doing next to nothing except reading and drinking vin du pays rouge but we also found time to visit a few sights. The chateaux at Chenonceau,Blois and Angers were incredible as was the Abbey of Fontevraud where Richard the Lionheart is buried. We managed a few walks around the Loire valley which is so typical rural France. Campsite was excellent, we were able to watch Euro 2008 with a load of miserable Dutch football fans and observe the daily ritual of fat old euro caravaners emptying **** pots and chemical toilets. All adds to the charm of this type of holiday. We drove 1260 miles from home to home and french petrol is only marginally cheaper than the UK but only in supermarche, dearer in normal outlets. Hope to get some Ireland and France pictures on line soon.
