Invaded Spain at midday on Wednesday. Reached the hotel in Bilboa at about 1pm white and shaking after our xperience on Spanish roads. Temperature was an unbelievable 38C as we went into Bilbao. Saw the amazing Guggenheim Museum shame they have to spoil a fantastic building with lots of dodgy art. Caught a funicular to the top of a hill and had a dramatic view of the city with the thunderclouds rolling in. Yes we got a bit wet going back to the hotel. By the way eat your heart out - fuel at £1 a litre and bus fares about a £1 also for a 12km journey.
Next day travelled to Haro in La Rioja province for our first campsite. A bit urban and basic but at least it was cooler today. Wasted no time in sampling the local wine, guess what that is?
Nex day was our arranged trip by Monty to Juan Alcorta Bodega near to Logrono. Amazing place - 6 million bottles of wine and 70000 barrels in a space age winery built into a mountain. Thanks Monty it was awesome. Today has been hotter went for a short walk off to the Pyrennees tomorrow.
