Saturday 16th August 2008

Travelling on from Somiedo it was a long days drive to the end of the world (at least it was in the 15thC) to Finisterre. We ended up at Capo Finisterre the most westerly point of Europe in a campsite in a pine wood behind a blue flag beach of stunning white sand.

We were now in Galicia in the extreme NW corner of Spain a lot like Cornwall but on a larger scale. Temperatures more like the UK as well but nice to have a break from the pressure cooker heat in the past two weeks. We only did one walk up Monte Pindo (no dogs followed!)the Spanish Mount Olympus so the locals say(picture from the peak). Anyway spectacular views from this coastal peak.

Quite a bit of sightseeing of which the highlight was our visit to the city of Santiago de Compostela everything a Spanish classical city should be unlike Leon! The cathedral the final place on the pilgrims trail was magnificent. We also had a three dolman day as we searched out the somewhat older spanish life.

Again we left it one day late to leave as another rain storm on our last night meant we had a wet tent to pack once again.
