....until the thunderstorm hit us at 7pm on our last night at the camp. Very atmospheric with mountains crowned by lightning and ear shattering thunder but the wind, oh! the wind at one point we both had to stand outside holding the tent as it threatened to fly down the valley. Then it rained harder and harder so we had to hold the tent down from inside, a slightly frightening task.
However we managed to cook a meal inside the tent in near darkness - the red wine and chick pea tagine were a great comfort on such a night.
After waiting for the tent to dry today we spent 4 hours toiling over the spanish plains to Burgos. No rain on the plain this day but temperatures reaching 36C - ooch!! Passing lots of in our opinion loopy pilgrims on the way to Santiago de Compestela - in that heat? All the hostals shamelessly cashing in on the pilgrimage.
We found a hotel on the outskirts of Burgos and tomorrow move on to the Someido NP near Oviedo in Asturias for a few days after that Galicia. Hope it is a little cooler or we will melt like our toiletries have in the last two weeks. Will update this and hopefully photos as well when we manage to find an internet haven again.
